how’s it work?
Live It OutLoud is designed to give students the technical and artistic skills necessary to pursue their passion and even develop careers in the broader entertainment industry. Any aspiring, non-professional musician ages 12-18 can participate. Guitarists, drummers, keyboardists, bassists, vocalists, and other instrumentalists are welcome. The only prerequisites are the passion to work hard and learn for eight amazing weeks. The students will be placed in bands, and these bands become their new family. Students should expect to practice on their own on a daily basis, in order to properly learn the songs for the program. Each band is encouraged to rehearse more than once a week together, and many find they want to rehearse almost daily. |
Ted Brown Music Outreach
Ted Brown Music has had a busy year in 2025. They’ve obtained a new building with dedicated band rehearsal rooms, therapy rooms, and community space—providing the capacity to reach more young musicians than ever before. They also completed our 14th Live it OutLoud program and expanded therapy programs to serve even more of the community.
None of this would be possible without support. Thanks to generous donations, hundreds of children have received instruments and music education opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise have. Helping shy kids find their confidence, students discover their passion, and families experience the joy of music together is an outcome to be celebrated.

How it works? Each band schedules a weekly rehearsal with their mentor in one of the provided rehearsal spaces. The bands are encouraged to rehearse multiple times a week and Ted Brown Music stores have in-store rehearsal space as availability allows. All the in-store rehearsal spaces will be outfitted with professional gear (sound system, amps, keyboards, drums).
During the eight weeks, a series of important group seminars are presented. The seminars provide an intimate opportunity for students, to interact with high level professionals and apply the networking skills we teach from day one. Scheduled seminars typically include: Stage Performance, Songwriting, The Business of Music, Music Promotion, Music Theory as well as keyboard, guitar, vocal and drum master classes. Attendance to these seminars are mandatory.
One of the most valuable workshops is the PERFORMANCE BOOTCAMP where the bands get to perform in front of a panel of music professionals and get their performance evaluated.
It’s incredible to see how fast the bands can implement the feedback given into their live performances!
