DESCRIPTION:Canned Heat\n\nThu\, May 28 @ 7:30PM \nMainstage Theatre\, 216 Union Street\, Seattle \n\n\nFounded in 1966\, Canned Heat rose to fame because their knowledge and love of blues music was both wide and deep. Canned Heat attained three worldwide hits with their rock anthems “On The Road Again\,” “Going Up The Country\,” and “Let’s Work Together.” They secured their niche in rock ‘n roll history with their performances at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival and a headlining slot at the original Woodstock Festival in 1969. \nNow\, almost sixty years later and with forty albums to their credit\, Canned Heat is still going strong. They have been anchored throughout the past fifty-eight years by the steady hand of drummer/band leader and historian\, Adolfo “Fito” de la Parra. Continuing on into his eighteenth year\, New Orleans’ legend\, Dale Spalding is on harmonica\, guitar and lead vocals and for the past four years\, inventive bassist\, Rick Reed became part of the lineup after stints with Paul Butterfield\, John Mayall and the Chicago Blues Reunion. The newest addition on lead guitar and vocals is the incredible Jimmy Vivino. Jimmy is best known for his 28 year association as guitarist\, arranger and music director for Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Moondance has a fun\, engaging style that provides our audiences a connection to the “feel good magic” of Van Morrison’s music. \nMichael Clune\, the band leader who put Moondance together 5 years ago recalls his thoughts leading up to committing to Van Morrison’s music and legacy. “I always had super respect for the troubadours\, the songwriters with a soulful genuine delivery. The group’s distinctive and powerful sound\, influenced by a diversity of musical styles\, manifested itself into a unique musical hybrid via such barnburners as “Tuff Enuff” and “Wrap It Up”. Co-founder Kim Wilson\, the sole original member\, still spearheads the group as it evolves into its newest incarnation. \n“We started as a straight blues band”\, vocalist and harmonica player Wilson says. “We now incorporate a mixture of a lot of different styles. We’re an American music band and we’re much higher energy than we were before.” \n“To be in the T-Birds\, you need to understand the different styles of music and different ways of playing\,” Wilson comments. “You have to be willing to adopt a more contemporary style. The guys we have now are able to do that.” \nThe band continues to tour extensively\, in both the U.S. and Europe.
